Engaging with our local Aboriginal community has been vital to the project from the outset.

Part of this involves visiting our Local Aboriginal Land Councils, and in April this year the team was lucky enough to be invited to join a yarning circle at Bahtabah Local Aboriginal Land Council.

During this, the team were invited to learn more about native flora and fauna, as well as some traditional artefacts, from local expert Kentan Proctor.

The yarn became the catalyst of an idea for how the project could do more to raise awareness about the native vegetation that exists where the new hospital is being built, and it's role in Aboriginal culture.
