The NSW Government announced the Statewide Mental Health Infrastructure Program (SWMHIP) in 2018 which included reference to the relocation of the forensic mental health services and general rehabilitation services units from Morisset Hospital.
The NSW Government announced the Maitland Mental Health Rehabilitation project in October 2023.
Early planning and design for the new Maitland Mental Health Rehabilitation facility is underway. Key project consultants have been engaged, project governance established and a master plan prepared.
The project team will be consulting with stakeholders and the community to progress the planning and design of the new facility. Further information on project delivery timeframes will be provided as the project progresses.
