Consultation is central

Community and stakeholder input are an essential part of planning the John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct.

Our program of consultation combines:

  • Clinical and staff consultation to support the design of future models of care and the new Acute Services Building, including user groups, information sessions, drop-in sessions and newsletters.
  • The Aboriginal Design Group ensures key elements of the design connects with Country and extends a welcome to local indigenous communities and those from across Newcastle, the greater Hunter region and northern NSW communities.
  • A Stakeholder Consultative Committee has a broad consumer representation, involving representatives from across the community, patient and carer groups.
  • Presentations and Q&As with community and consumer stakeholder groups including HNELHD Aboriginal Health Board committee, Youth Health and Wellbeing Council, and family advisory committees.
  • Consultation sessions across the community.
  • Regular meetings, presentations and consultation with precinct partners, associations, business chambers, interest groups, community members, Government and statutory bodies.
  • Project website, collateral, FAQs, newsletters and dedicated email.
  • Continuous engagement with Transport for NSW ensuring coordination between the John Hunter Health Innovation Precinct and the Newcastle Inner City Bypass project.
  • Extensive consultation to support the State Significant Development Application (SSDA).
