Master plan

The Cessnock Hospital Redevelopment has taken a step forward with the Master Plan now prepared. As part of this stage, Hunter New England Local Health District and Health Infrastructure are working with hospital staff, patients, stakeholder groups and the local community to ensure the redevelopment is responsive to the health care needs of the community. 

A Master Plan is developed early in the planning process and provides a high-level framework that shows how clinical services can be situated at the site, and how the hospital can be expanded and refurbished to meet the needs of the community. 

The Master Plan also considers how people will get to and from the hospital, how the hospital will connect to infrastructure and other essential services and how the hospital campus will work as a place once the redevelopment is complete.
