The arrival of the new year has been marked with a visit from two local Ministers who were keen to see the latest progress on the site. It was a great opportunity to show off how much the redevelopment has advanced.

The JHHIP Transition Strategy outlines how to prepare people, services and facilities from how they work now to how they will work in the future when the new building opens next year. This will minimise any disruption and ensure services for staff, patients and visitors continue to operate safely and effectively.

The new precinct will feature several major artworks to promote healing and provide a more positive experience for patients, staff and visitors.
At the end of last year, the National Aboriginal Design Agency (NADA) and our four Local Aboriginal Land Councils worked together to develop artworks designed to help Aboriginal people feel welcome in the new building.
Local artist Jodie Reynolds was selected as the lead artist and has been tasked with developing artworks that will be showcased in key areas of the new hospital where patients, visitors and staff arrive. As part of a unique collaborative process, a series of workshops were held with the support of Awabakal, Bahtabah, Biraban, and Worimi Elders where members of the community came together to share stories and drawings, some of which will feature in the hospital.
