The Cessnock project team is pleased to reveal the recently-completed schematic designs for the redevelopment.
The schematic design stage provides the next level of detail for the redevelopment, showcasing modern healthcare facilities and the expanded services to be delivered.
The redevelopment will include construction of a new two-level acute services building that will house an expanded emergency department, two inpatient wards featuring single and two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a new medical imaging service, and day surgery spaces.
In the 2024-25 NSW Budget an additional $26.5 million was allocated to the Cessnock Hospital Redevelopment, bringing the total investment to $138 million. This will support the delivery of additional facilities including an operating theatre and procedure room, a Sterilising Services Unity and a modern pharmacy.
Construction is expected to begin in 2025, following the appointment of a main works contractor.
The suite of schematic design images are below.
The project team will have these designs on display in November at these two locations:
Tuesday 12 November 2024, 10am – 12pm, Cessnock Hospital main foyer (View Street)
Wednesday 13 November 2024, 9am – 1pm, Cessnock Village Shopping Centre
Staff and the community are encouraged to stop by, view the designs and share their feedback.
If you’re unable to make it to either of these locations, but would like to ask a question or share your feedback, please email HI-Cessnock@health.nsw.gov.au
