Cessnock Hospital concept design released for feedback
SHARE

The community is being encouraged to have their say on the Cessnock Hospital Redevelopment, with concept designs unveiled today.

The NSW Government is investing $111.48 million to redevelop the hospital on the existing site to modernise and enhance health service facilities for the community, including new amenities for patients and staff.

The Cessnock community will benefit from a range of enhanced health services and facilities that will be housed in a brand-new, two-level Acute Services Building on the Cessnock Hospital campus.

The release of the concept design marks a significant milestone for the project and has been informed by consultation with clinicians, staff and consumers to ensure the best possible hospital facility to support the health needs of communities in Cessnock, now and into the future.

The project scope is being confirmed through the planning and design process, and is expected to include:

  • A new and expanded emergency department
  • Two new inpatient units, featuring single and two-bed patient rooms
  • A new medical imaging service
  • Improvements to connections to existing buildings across the campus

The concept design shows the location of departments within the new Acute Services Building on the hospital campus, and builds on master planning undertaken last year, which set the foundations of the hospital’s redevelopment, including the location of the new building and future expansion zones.

The redevelopment will integrate the new building and existing services, including the operating theatres, allied health and pharmacy to optimise connections around the hospital campus and support staff and patient flow.

The hospital’s design will also foster a Connection to Country to create a welcoming and culturally safe environment and these elements will continue to be developed as planning progresses.

Community information sessions

The community is encouraged to come along to one of these information sessions where they can view the designs, ask the project team questions and provide important feedback that will help to shape the planning and design of the redevelopment.

Two community information drop-in sessions will be hosted at the View Street Clinic on the Cessnock Hospital campus on Tuesday 28 May 2024 at 10am-12pm and 4pm-6pm.

We would love to hear your thoughts! Complete this short survey about the concept design. Tell us what you would like to hear more about and how you would like to be kept up to date on the project. The opportunity to provide feedback will be open until Friday 14 June 2024. Please note, this survey has now closed

Feedback from consultation on the concept design will be used to assist project planning and will also inform the schematic design for the redevelopment. Community updates will continue to be provided as the project progresses.
