Towering over the development site
SHARE

Work on the John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct is on track with the arrival and installation of the first tower crane.

Significant logistics were involved in transporting and installing the crane to deliver this type of work. Pleasingly, the project team achieved this without impacting staff, patients and campus partners – and most importantly, emergency services.

The crane took two days to assemble and stands at 72 metres - taller than the existing John Hunter Hospital. It can load 12 tonnes – the equivalent of two elephants – and is 78 metres in length. Keep an eye out for the second crane, which is scheduled to arrive in the coming weeks.
