Two significant health projects for the Glen Innes community have moved another step forward with the awarding of the tender for the new ambulance station and the enabling works for the hospital redevelopment project.

The tender for these two projects was combined, and Hutchinson Builders has been engaged to complete the construction of the new ambulance station on the corner of West Avenue and Taylor Street.

Hutchinson Builders has also been engaged to deliver the enabling works for the hospital redevelopment which involves early construction activities including the demolition of Crommelin House, also known as the Old Nurses Quarters.

The new Glen Innes hospital will be built on the corner of Ferguson and Macquarie Streets and provide a purpose-built facility offering flexible clinical services and contemporary models of care including emergency, medical imaging, maternity, birthing, community health, inpatient unit, as well as administration areas for staff.

Co-located on the hospital campus, the new Glen Innes Ambulance Station will feature internal parking for up to six emergency ambulance vehicles, administration, office areas and staff amenities, logistics and storage areas, staff parking and relief accommodation and an internal wash bay.

The new ambulance station will provide local paramedics with a contemporary working environment and the latest equipment, ensuring they can continue to deliver high-quality emergency care to the Glen Innes community.

Hutchinson Builders will soon start the process of mobilising to site and getting the site established with fencing and site sheds.
