Project team announced for Manning Base Hospital Redevelopment

Stage Two of the $100 million Manning Base Hospital Redevelopment has taken a major step forward with the appointment of a project team to masterplan the continued redevelopment.

Member for Myall Lakes, Stephen Bromhead was joined today by the Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro to make the announcement.

“This appointment marks another significant stride in the advancement of regional healthcare,” Mr Bromhead said.

“It is terrific news for communities in the Myall Lakes who have long called for further investment in our region’s health infrastructure, which we are continuing to deliver on.

“The newly appointed project team will comprise of Health Infrastructure, Hunter New England Local Health District, Mace (consultant Project Manager), BVN (Architect) and MBM (Quantity Surveyor).

“I know access to quality healthcare is a huge issue for communities in Myall Lakes and in the lead-up to the last Budget I fought tooth and nail in Parliament to ensure we secured this funding.”

Mr Barilaro said the new project team will focus on master planning for the next stage of the project which will provide a clear framework to inform priority areas for the $100 million redevelopment.

“This is part of the NSW Government’s $100 million investment in Stage Two of the Manning Base Hospital Redevelopment, with a total investment of $140 million for Stage One and Stage Two combined,” Mr. Barilaro said.

“Planning will consider expanded and upgraded inpatient accommodation, medical and surgical services as well as a range of clinical support services to enhance access to improved patient care and facilities.

“This is a critical step in the continued growth of the hospital which will deliver a boost to Myall Lakes and surrounding communities by creating local jobs and increased activity for businesses.”

This funding is in addition to the $100 million investment in Stage Two of the Rural Ambulance Infrastructure Reconfiguration program which will deliver new ambulance stations in Forster and Old Bar.
